When Your Hips Don’t Move Right, Everything Suffers
Hip pain can affect everything, from your stride to your squat form to your ability to stand up without stiffness. You may feel deep aching, sharp pinching in the front of your hip, or stiffness after sitting too long. It might even wake you up at night.
The most frustrating part? Stretching often makes it worse. That’s because many types of hip pain, especially hip impingement, aren’t caused by tight muscles but by irritation deep in the joint.
At RISE, we take a full-body approach. We look at how your hips, spine, and pelvis work together, and build a rehab plan based on how you actually move.
You’ll get a clear diagnosis and evidence-based treatment to restore motion without pain.

Questions We Hear About Hip Pain Treatment
Why does stretching make my hip pain worse?
If you’re feeling sharp pinching or increased aching after stretching your hips, it’s likely that the problem isn’t tight muscles. It could be hip impingement or irritation inside the joint.
Stretching under those conditions can actually compress irritated structures and make things worse.
We help you figure out what’s actually contributing to the pain and teach you safer ways to restore mobility.
How do I know if it’s hip impingement or something else?
Hip impingement often feels like a pinch or block in the front of the hip during squats, lunges, or sitting with knees up.
But similar symptoms can come from labral irritation, glute weakness, or movement dysfunction elsewhere.
Our detailed exam and movement analysis help pinpoint the exact cause so we can treat it at the root.
Can I keep training through hip pain?
In many cases, yes. We work with you to identify what movements to avoid short-term and what you can safely continue doing.
Most athletes we see stay active through rehab because we teach them how to move smarter while they heal.
How long will recovery take?
Everyone heals at a different pace depending on how long the issue has been present and how consistent you are with treatment. ‘
Some clients feel significant improvement in 2–4 sessions. Others take longer if there’s been chronic irritation or post-surgical rehab.
We’ll set expectations clearly from the beginning so you know what to expect.
Do I need imaging before starting physical therapy?
Not necessarily. In most cases, we can assess and begin treatment based on your movement and symptoms.
If we suspect something that needs imaging, we’ll refer you out. But starting with PT often saves time, money, and frustration.
Stop Pushing Through the Pain
You’ve tried stretching, rest, and hoping it goes away. If you’re still in pain, it’s time to find out why and fix it.
At RISE, we help athletes, runners, and active adults across Denver get back to full motion with no guesswork.
You get personalized treatment from a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a clear plan designed for your goals.
